Automatic changeover switch transfers load from mains to generator and from generator to mains. The selection of changeover is done according to the mains load. It is available from 20 amps to 60 amps in Single Phase and 60 amps to 300 amps in three phase variants. The size of change over varies depending upon the capacity of the load. Three phase changeover switches with current rating 80 amps & above are equipped with timer system which provides 8 sec delay on Generator mode and 2-3 sec delay during mains that prevents sparking and instant heavy load on Generator during startup. The change overs equipped with P.C Circuit operates even if any of the one or two phases are missing at input supply.
